Summer is in its prime and we are loving our indoor/outdoor studio time with doors swung wide open and fans blowing strong keeping the creativity flowing! We're back from our NY show and focusing on preparing opening orders for our wonderful new stores and the holiday pre-orders are starting to roll in. We love the dog days, the blue skies, the afternoon slow downs in the heat and the cool gorgeous evenings here in the Pacific Northwest. It is so lovely to be able to do what we do, creating beauty and sending it out into the world. What an amazing thing and we are humbled and grateful!!

we've just added a new show to our summer schedule. We're excited to be appearing at the New York International Gift Fair, New Yorks Newest in the brand new Artisan Jewelry Showcase on Pier 92 in mid-August. This is a huge trade show for wholesale buyers all over the world. Looking forward to it and to fabulous NYC

short days, long nights, sleeping cats, crackling fires AND a new puppy on the way. the studio is buzzing with orders taken over the weekend for our local Holiday Market and a few heading out for shops and galleries across the land- the house is filled with warmth, extra coffee brewing up on chilly afternoons and piles of holiday cards waiting for messages and signing. December is one of our favorite months!

greetings- we are home from our recent travels and are filled with thoughts and visions of new designs and projects and ideas for refining and re-defining our studio space and display. We can never sit still for long. Patrick is working steadily on two amazing commissions which he will document in his blog as he finds the time.

the garden is wild and inspiring and I pulled out several 6 ft. tall weeds over the weekend, which was sunny, finally!

the hours fly by as I work in the studio alone- Patrick was here part of the day and then teaching for the afternoon. I can focus only for so long at a time until I have to wander out into the garden when its sunny. It so much an inspiration for our jewelry designs, in case you couldnt tell. The Flowers are coming!

in the morning before I get too far, I usually stand in the back doorway, just outide our little soldering room and stare at the bamboo and the climbing rose with so many buds. Next to Ganesh, and ponder....

I looked up and it was suddenly May! Things have been so busy here in the studio and in the garden April just flew by. And now, it is truly the burgeoning spring I love so much. May and June are by far my most favorite months of the years with the lush greens and blooms everywhere and most of all the sun!!

We are working like mad to prepare for a June trade show and a beautiful new catalog that will go out to our growing mailing list of galleries near and far. Look for a retail catalog available to all by the holiday season this year !!!

We're also looking forward to setting up our beautiful new booth at NW Folklife in Seattle over Memorial Day Weekend. Gorgeous new silk wall panels are in the making as well as a new banner just designed ands sent off to the printer this week. And lots of new pieces with, you guessed it, flowers, lovely gemstones, silk and leather. It should be a great show and looking forward to spending some good times with family and friends that weekend as well.

Will try to blog a little bit more often rather than waiting so long. More soon xxoo Katy Jane

today is one of those long Sundays where I feel it will last on and on and I can flutter around like a butterfly from this to that- a little gardening, planting red onions and spinach and greens seeds. A little laundry and housekeeping, a little chainmaking and jewelry design and some photography and messin around with my new upgraded Photoshop software. It is truly my favorit kind of day. Sunny, lovely, cats lounging about and my sweet man tapping away with his hammer nearby.

a Saturday morning spent touring the Cascade Raptor Center has left me in awe and amazed- by the rehabilitation work being done there as well as the ongoing education about these most incredible creatures. I had never seen a bald eagle so close before-they are so Large! And the owls, and hawks, and kites and more. I am thinking of volunteering some time with these regal souls this winter. Stay posted. Back in the studio, a few new jewels and time planning, dreaming, sketching new designs on this misty foggy northwest winter day

Happy New Year! Dust has settled here in the studio and Conlin household after a fun and successful Holiday Market and some holiday travels visiting friends in Portland and Seattle oh so briefly. Now we are home, the Christmas tree has been packed away for another year, piles have been filed and here we are - its a new year! Patrick started the winter teaching schedule Monday, we've re designed and launched our new jewelry website and drawings and musings for new jewelry designs are in the works and in process. Everything feels fast and slow at the same time! The weather unseasonably warm, in the 50's this week, with tiny bits of rain. Unsettling, kind of odd, but lovely. I had to take today to begin cleanup of our front garden, neglected since fall. Even the garden is getting a re-design this year- a privacy hedge, which means digging out mis-placed shrubs and finding new homes for them elsewhere, in the back most likeley. A little more structure. But not to worry, it will still be wild and full of sunflowers and perennials come spring and summer. I dont believe I could grow a garden that didnt have a little bit of wild to it- its just my nature! And, the long list of craft shows to apply for, starting yesterday. That is the months of January and February- the time of show applying. We're going for more this year and we shall see. So its sorting through photos, re-shooting certain pieces, editing, fretting, sending them in. Its all part of the unending process of getting the work out there where the people can see. So many pieces to keep track of, living this sweet artists life. It has its own unique stress and strain, but I would not have any other life! xo Katy Jane

Contrary to what some may believe, the Market is not just about tie dye and hippies! Although you will find those things there, you will also find many NEW artists of all kinds, creating beautiful, skillful handcrafted goods, as well as beloved established artists doing new things too! The artistry truly inspires. I encourage you to GO to the Holiday Market with fresh eyes, really look and see the work - try not to be overwhelmed and glazed. Have lunch. Go slow and I promise you will find something unanticipated and beautiful. Shopping local is SUCH a good thing. If there is an artist that you love, buy something from them! Boris the cat is sleeping in my jewelry trunk! Winding up for the final weekend and days of our local Holiday Market. And this evening we're throwing our annual holiday party for the workers, past and present, of our little organic landscape company. It promises to be a festive weekend! I baked cookies ALL day yesterday and made a huge pot of Minestrone. This past week has been so sweet- much domesticity abounds in the Conlin household. Heading up to Rois and Chance's for Christmas, then on to Seattle to visit Jeanne, Pats mom, and my friend Michele. And maybe even a trip out to Sequim to visit old friend Ken Anderson and on to Port Townsend (tho Jeannine will not be there we may stay a night at her house and trip around picturesque Port Townsend anyway). Looking forward to beginning work on a new line of etched and pierced jewelry inspired by "the sparrow" Edith Piaf, my muse of the moment. And preparing marketing materials for our 1st trade show in early summer. Love, cats, dog, garden, food, friends, work, art. Life is good. xo katy

We almost didnt set up our little shop at the Saturday Market today- forecast of heavy rains and winds. But then, at the last minute we just said what the hell and headed out. I sold earrings and a necklace to a repeat customer. It was sunny and sweet. For about 2 hours. Then came the rains and winds. We had to batton down the hatches. Things went flying. Oh my! Patrick was so sweet to send me home to the studio. He insisted. So, there he sits, hunkered down with cheap novel and blankets. And here I am, lucky girl, and afternoon solo in my sweet pink studio room with Rupa and the April Fishes, grumpy old hound under foot and cute sleeping cat on her bed. She is cute now- not so cute this morning when she was eating the gold finch she caught! It is a blustery fall day and life is lovely and good.

Patricks teaching schedule has been intense this summer- 2 new classes and lots of students. Tomorrow is the last day of the term- vacation time! We have a new kitty in our house/studio so we plan to stay close to home. She is just too little to be left alone for long. Maybe we'll escape for at least one overnight campout. Or maybe we'll just pitch the tent in the back yard! Anyway, lots to do and lots of new work coming along. Patrick keeps working on new flowers for the Katy Jane line and we just cast a nice sized batch of older flowers for earrings, pendants and bracelets. Katy just designed a new bead with the Meadowsweet flower and is working into several new gemstone designs. Our Holiday Market booth has been set - we will be doing all of the December weekends this year. And in addtion to preparing new work for that show, we are working long and hard to prepare for our first wholesale shows next year, possibly starting in February in Philadelphia. Big times ahead! We're happy, healthy and loving our sweet little artists life in Eugene. More to come. xo Katy

We spent the VERY HOT 4th of July weekend at Alton Baker Park along the Willemette River in Eugene selling our jewelry and Patricks metalsmithing among many other artisans and with wine! Though the temp was in the 90's the first couple of days, it was fun to hang out in our booth with our fellow jewelry artist and friend Jen Hoover of Lovely Jewels. Now its back to the studio to create more beautiful jewels for Saturday Market next weekend. -Katy
